Thank you for visiting my website.
I am an independent professional French to English translator whose philosophy is to help individuals and organisations to communicate effectively in English, my first language. I have invested in specialised postgraduate training, achieving a merit in my MA Translation Studies degree at Portsmouth University. I decided to start my translation business after relocating to another part of England, so at a time of great change in many areas of my life. My favourite thing about translating is the opportunity to help others to achieve their goals by getting their message across to their audiences and readers and I love the challenge of discovering more about different subjects. I work to the Institute of Translation and Interpreting Code of Professional Conduct, with its principles including integrity, competence and confidentiality. You can be assured of my best efforts and personal attention. Please get in touch using the form at the bottom of the page to tell me about your French to English translation requirements. |
Training
I am an affiliate member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting and an active member of the North-West Translators Network and benefit from ongoing training with them to update and refresh my skills.
I have a BA(Hons) in European Studies and French from Durham University and enjoyed a year studying in Strasbourg in France.
I am an entry-level member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders and trained with them and with the Publishing Training Centre in proofreading. I did their Basic Proofreading course, which is comprehensive training in the understanding and judgment required for proofreading. I also attend local meetings of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators. Through this investment in my professional development, I benefit from extra training in proofreading, revising and writing in English.
